Located in eastern Tibet, Chamdo Prefecture tucked away in the Henduan Mountains and cut by the Jinshajiang, Lancanjiang and Nujiang rivers, covers an area of 108,600 square kms with Sichuan to the east, Yunnan to the south and Qinghai in the north.Chamdo Prefecture possesses a strategically geographical position. Chamdo Prefecture has an average altitude of over 3,500 meters, with a unique topography and wonderful landscapes.Located at the river junction of the Dza-chu and the Ngon-chu, which is of strategic importance, Chamdo town is a beautiful and pleasant town, where the administrative office of Chamdo Prefecture is.Chamdo attracts thousands of tourists every year because of its numerous charming attractions like Galden Jampaling, Ranwok Lake, Meili Snow Mountain.
