Shigatse
Shigatse Prefecture connects with three countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim in the south, Ngari in the west, Nagchu in the north and Lhasa and Lhokha in the east. Historically, Shigatse Prefecture was called Tsang, which was an important administrative Prefecture of Tibet.Shigatse city, as the capital city of Shigatse Prefecture, is Tibet's second-largest
town, which lies about 280km southwest of Lhasa, or 90km northwest of Gyantse. The City of Shigatse formerly named as Samdruptse has long been a crucial trade and administrative center. The Tsang kings worked here and the fort later turned to be the residence of the governors.Shigatse Prefecture has the great famous scenic spot-Mt. Everest Base Camp besides some famous monasteries like Tashilunpo Monastery, Pelkor Chode Monastery, Rongphu Monastery, Sakya Monastery, etc.
