Jokhang Temple Lhasa

The old Lhasa come before Jokhang Temple. If you haven't been to Jokhang Temple, you haven't been to Lhasa, said Nyima Tsering, the famous lama of Jokhang Temple, which every tourist is in agreement with. Pilgrims' prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple is very touching. Jokhang Temple enjoys a high prestige in Tibetan minds.
Jokhang Temple was built in the Golden Age of Tubo Regime in the seventh century. As the story runs, to put the 8-year-old life-sized statue of Sakyamuni which was taken from Kathmandu when Songzan Ganbu married Princess Chizun of Nepal is the only purpose to build Jokhang Temple. Nowadays, the 12-year-old life-sized statue of Sakyamuni taken from Chang'an by Princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty instead of the 8-year-old life-sized statue is worshipped in Jokhang Temple. The 8-year-old life-sized statue could be seen in Ramoche Temple.
Han, Tibet, Nepal and India architetural styles are merged together in the building of Jokhang Temple. Han ethnic golden top, Tibet ethnic watchtower, nepali and indian sphinx all could be found in Jokhang Temple. Two one-thousand-meter murals "Princess Wencheng' Arrival in Tibet" and "The Construction Drawing of Jokhang Temple" are both art treasures.
