Lhasa
Lhasa is tibetan word and "lha" refers to god and "sa" refers to place, so lhasa means "abode place for god is situated on the bank of lhasa river(kyichu). King Songtsen Gonpo moved his capital from Yarlung to lhasa. He ordered the construction of Potala palace, Jokhang and Ramoche. The pilgrimage circuit around the Jokhang temple gradually flourished
and forming the embryo of the city and becomes famous Bakhor bazaar. The bazaar is lined up with selling basic necessities,famous different types of tibetan cheeses, dry yak meat,traditional handicraft, religious instruments, tibetan style wool carpet, waist swords and pangtian(tibetan apron worn by women after marriage) etc."The total amount of solar radiation annually is 202 kilo calories per square meter and is honoured as "city of sunlight".Lhasa have almost twenty four historical and cultural cities with some famous monasteries like Drepung,Sera, Ganden, Jokhang, Potala palace etc.
