Lhasa, the city at 3650m above sea level, the heart and soul of Tibet, attracts tremendousnumber of travelers and pilgrimages in the world, it still a city of wonders, through it is now modernized to some extent. Your first place to visit in Lhasa should be Potala Palace, stands on Red hill at the central of Lhasa city. Next one should be the Jokhang temple, the real spiritual center of Lhasa, and its pilgrim circuit called Barkor Kora.

In the Tibetan language, Lhasa means the Buddha Land. It is the center of politics, economy and culture, Tibet Buddhism. If you have one or two more days, you could explore some large Monasteries like Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and Ganden Monastery out of Lhasa city to get to know more about the mysterious Tibetan Buddhism and the daily life of Lamas.

March to October is the best time to visit Tibet, but please avoid Mid-July to Mid August, though the climate are not bad for travelling, the hotels, tourist attractions are packed with Chinese domestic travelers, the cost of tour will raise according too.

About the climate, there is the large temperature differences in day time and night, warm clothes should be taken to keep away the cold. However, because it also receives a great deal of sunshine, sunglasses, suntan oil, lip oil, and a sun hat are necessary things to pack when you are leaving home.

About Hotels in Lhasa, you could easily book a hotel or hostel through internet or through a travel agency, you could even make a phone call to hotel directly to reserve the room, besides the peak travel season in summer, hotel rooms in Lhasa are sufficient to provide at pretty good price, 3 star hotels in Lhasa quoted 260-300RMB per room per night, 4 star hotels quoted around 400RMB. Luxury hotels and Unique Tibetan Style Hotels are more expensive than common hotels.
