Lhasa
Lhasa is tibetan word and "lha" refers to god and "sa" refers to place, so lhasa means "abode place for god is situated on the bank of lhasa river(kyichu). King Songtsen Gonpo moved his capital from Yarlung to lhasa. He ordered the construction of Potala palace, Jokhang and Ramoche. The pilgrimage circuit around the Jokhang temple gradually flourished.
