Tour Itinerary

Day01 Train Beijing to Lhasa(Set out in the evening of the first day)

Take Train T27, depart from Beijing on 21:30.

Cities you will go through today are Beijing/Shijiazhuang/Lanzhou/Xian

Day02 On the train

Today, you will arrive in Xining City in the afternoon, the first train station of Qinghai-Tibet railway. Then turn north ahead to Lhasa.

Day03 Wonderful window excursion along Qinghai-Tibet Railway(Arrive in Lhasa in the evening of the third day)

Today's train travel is the most wonderful section of Qinghai-Tibet railway, you will see land of snows, desert, grassland, ice mountain and travel along the lakeside which will strongly go to your heart. arrive in Lhasa in the evening

Day 04 Lhasa highlights escorted tour [B]

In the morning section, you are going to visit the famous Patala palace, which is the land mark of lhasa and is recently considered one of the seven wonders of the world. Patala was built during Tsontsen Gonpo’s reign and later its been recontrusted and serve as Dalai lama’s winter resident. In the afternoon exploring the Sera monastery which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa’s disciple Jamchen Choeje. The whole monastery is divided into two colleges and there are Sera ‘jhe’ and Sera ‘may’ respectively. Among them “Tsokhang chenmo” where the monks from all the colleges assemble and pray together there.You can also see monks debaiting there in the courtyard at around 4-5:30 in the afternoon section.

Day 05 Lhasa/Gyangtse (alt.4040m)/Shigatse (alt.3850m) [B+L+D]]

Chuxu county is about one hour driving parallel to lhasa river and few kilometers from chushor have to cross famous kangpa-la with4700m.You can see the fabulous shade of deep torquoise Yamdrok-yutso is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in colour. Since you have to cross the 4960m karo-la with its awesome roadside views of the Nanchan- Kangtsang glacier. It was here that Younghusband’s British troops clashed with Tibetan forces en route to lhasa.Upon arrival in Gyantse, have a stop in Palkhor Temple for around one hour, if you would like to have a visit (self-paid), you could go and the guide will be with you. If you don’t, you could stroll in this ancient town at leisure. After that, continue to Shigatse, have a tour to Tashilumpu Monastery after arrival.overnight in Shigatse.

Day 06 Shigatse/Tingri (alt.4300m)/EBC (alt.5200m)/Tingri [B+L+D]]

Drive further in to the mountains to get to Mt. Everest Base Camp via Tingri. Today have to get up and leave for Mt. Everest earlier. The road condition to the Base Camp is rough; Have a stop in Rongbuk Monastery (optional visit, self-paid), the highest monastery in the world. Enjoy the stunning view of the mountain Himalayas and do a short hiking at the foot of the Mt.Everest. Drive back to Tingri for a peaceful night after visiting the Mt.Everest. overnight in Tingri.

Day 07 Tingri/Shigatse/Lhasa [B+L]

Highlights: Scenery on the way

This day you will drive back to Lhasa city (650km, 9+ hrs), upon arrival, leisure time at your disposal.

Day 08 Lhasa highlights escorted tour [B]

In morning section you will visit Jokhang temple, built mainly for the “Jowoe” bring along with princess Wencheng from Xi’an during Tang dyansty and is grouped into world cultural heritage list by the UNESCO. Then exploring the famous old barkhor street Market which is a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties around the temple, you could buy some presents for your friends or your families there.
