Hoh Xil Nature Reserve

Kekexili(Hoh Xil), which lies in the border areas of the Tibet Autonomous Region, qinghai Province and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, was founded in 1995, covers 45,000 square kilometers at an average elevation of 4,600 meters.
Hoh Xil means "beautiful girl" in Mongolian. It is one of the main sources of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River and encompasses an area of 83,000 square kilometers between the Tanggula and Kunlun Mountains in the northwestern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is China's largest and the world's third largest uninhabited area.

The Tuotuo River
The source of the Yangtze River, originates from the glaciers of the Jianggendiru Snow Mountains located at the southwestern side of the highest Geladandong Peak in the Tanggula Mountain Range. The altitude of the end of the glaciers is nearly 5,500 meters. There are many huge snow mountains, including 20 snow-covered peaks whose altitudes are more than 6,000 meters.

Tsona Lake

Tsona Lake, 4594 meters above sea level, is one of the highest lakes throughout the world with fresh water. In winter, herds of pastured yaks is nourished beside the lake illuminated by a riot of colors when the mild sunshine projected to the landscape through the frozen water.

Qiangtang Grassland

Qiangtang Grassland, the meaning of "northern highland", refers to the north Tibetan plateau. Located in among kunlung mountains,Tanggula mountains and Ganddis mountains,its land area covers 2/3 of the whole Tibet.It's total area is over 600 thousand square kilometers averaging about 4000 meters above sealevel. Qiang Tang Grasssland breeds thousands of wild animals,and 40 of them are specially proteced by the state or regional government.Such rare animals as Wild yaks,Bharals,Tibetan wild donkeys,White-lipped deer,etc.are being well preserved in the area.Also it is the best preserved area in which rare animals researches are being carried out.
