Lhasa ready to embrace May Day
Lhasa has prepared well to greet tourists from home and abroad during the May Day holiday.
70 aid Tibet guides to post in May Day
70 aid Tibet together with representatives of Lhasa travel agencies attended the 5th group aid Tibet guide training class on the afternoon of April 15 which will last for one week.
The TAR Tourism Bureau organized the training class to make the aid Tibet guides to better know the basic information about Tibet and to better introduce Tibet.
Currently, there are 1,100 guides in Tibet and with the coming of the May Day, guides are in great demand. All these 70 new guides will be distributed to travel agencies on April 28 and be on duty during May Day.
Potala Palace Snow City will be unveiled during May Day holiday
The reconstruction of Tibet's three major cultural relics of the Potala Palace, Norbulingka and Sakya Kloster are reportedly going smoothly and the Snow City (Xuecheng) of the Potala Palace will be formally opened to the public during this year's May Day holiday.
The Tibetan Culture Heritage Department says that until now, the reinforcement of the Potala Palace's main structure and the maintenance of other 17 ancient buildings has been completed. Norbulingka's old buildings and fresco have also been repaired. The city wall, turret, monk's dormitory and other old buildings at Sakya Kloster have also been renovated.
The reconstruction of the three cultural relics dates back to June 2002 when the Chinese central government invested RMB330 million for the protection and renovation of the three sites. The Potala Palace, which was built in the seventh century, is a world cultural heritage site. Norbulingka, built in 1751, is the largest garden at the highest altitude in the world, and Sakya Kloster is a main temple for Tibetan Buddhism and home to abundant Tibetan Buddhism files and other rarely-seen cultural relics.

Stable weather to cover Lhasa
In the following days, the weather will keep stable in Lhasa, sources from the TAR Weather Bureau.
The senior engineer, He Xiaohong from the TAR Weather Bureau introduced that influenced by the weak cold air from North China, Lhasa was cloudy on April 16 and till April 19, Lhasa will be sunny in morning and turn to be cloudy in the afternoon without serious temperature change.
He reminds the citizens to prepare suitable clothes to prevent from illnesses such as catching a cold and respiratory tract illness.

Beijing West-Lhasa
Train T27 will start from Beijing West Railway Station at 21:30 and arrive at Lhasa Railway Station at 20:58 on the third day after 47 hours and 28 minutes' running.
Train T28 will depart from Lhasa Railway Station at 8:00 am and arrive at Beijing west at 8:00 am on the third day with a 48-hour-trip running through 4,064 kilometers from Beijing to Lhasa.
Airlines to recover Guangzhou-Lhasa flight
According to a recent report, in order to facilitate more and more people visiting Tibet during the high tourist season, China Airlines will recover the original direct flight of Guangzhou-Lhasa recently.
Last winter, China Airlines suspended the Guangzhou-Lhasa direct flight because there are usually few tourists visiting Tibet during winter. As the high tourist season has come since April 1st that a great number of visitors will go to Tibet, the China Airlines decides to recover the flight.
The flight will be operated by Air Bus 319's and will stop at Deqen in Yunnan Province during the trip. It is said that, the flight will be increased to three flights every week in May and seven in July. Following is the detailed schedule.
In addition, there are also flights from Guangzhou to Lhasa which will stop at Chongqing during the trip. Also operated by China Airlines, there is one flight to Lhasa every day. By taking the flight, passengers don't need to change the flights in Chongqing.
