Along the routes you can enjoy fantastic scenery. From the northern route, you can see alpine country with forest around. You can also see the high plateau of the Changtang. Moreover, you can see large monasteries. If you go to the southern route. You can enjoy a lower, wilder and more alpine view, with fewer towns and monasteries. Besides, you can find stunning lakes along the route.</p> <p>The northern route starts from Chengdu. Following the route you may pass the&nbsp; Wolong Nature Reserve , where you can see the Giant Panda. Then you may pass the Four girls' mountain peaks. You can stay at Danba for a night and visit Danba Ancient block towers in Suopo. Also you can go to the Donggu Natural Reserve to Bamei and visit the famous Tangong Monastery 20km to the north. You can also visit other monasteries around Luohuo and Ganzi. It takes a long day to drive to Derge Scripture Printing Press from Ganzi, but there are plenty of exciting excursions that may be compensating. You will see the beautiful Yihun La-tso.&nbsp; You cross into Tibet from Derge to Chamdo, after going over some wild passes.&nbsp; You can also go and visit the biggest town in eastern Tibet. Then from there you can pass Riwoche, Sok, Nagqu and follow the Tibet western northern route to Lhasa.</p> <p>The Southern route also starts from Chengdu. You can pass Kangding from this route. Along the route you can visit Hailuogou Glacier, then Litang, the highest city in Sichuan, where you can visit Litang monastery. From Litang you drive down and climb up to Tibet at Markham, the first town you meet in Tibet. Then you pass Dzogang and Pomda. And from Pomda you can switch to the Tibet western southern route and go to Lhasa passing Rawok-tso, Pomi, Draksum-tso in Bayi.</p> <p>Travellers can also go to Tibet from Yunnan. You can either start from Kunming in Lijiang or futhur from north Zhongdian. If you start from Kunming, you can visit the famous stone forest. Then you can go to Daili and see the ancient Daili town. Besides, you can take a 2-3hour boating at Erhailake. As one of four ancient towns in China, Lijiang has a lot of natural wonders. For example, the Tiger Leaping Gorges. If you are interested in trekking, you can go for a day or two. You can also take a half-day bus from Zhongdian to Deqin, where you can see the holy Mt. Meili.
