The palace administration are planing to build a showroom down the hill in the near future for the convenience of elderly and handicapped visitors.</p> <p>You can buy the entry ticket yourself by lining infront of ticket office at the western gatehouse a day before. if you don't get the ticket that day, you need to lined untill you get the ticket which causes wastage of your time. so it is better to book the entry ticket with help from local tour operators.</p> <p>The Potala Palace opens its door at 9 o'clock and closes at 6 o'clock.The entry ticket fee is 100Y per person. The entry tickets are divided into three sets, morning 9:30 entry ticket, 12:30 entry ticket and afternoon 2:30 entry tickets.</p> <p>The foreign tourists should enter through the eastern gate house along with tour guide and need to register your passport, travellers list and Tibet permit. You have to visit all the chapels inside Potala Palace within one hour. The staff of local tourist bereau give you a time at starting point and you need to show that backside exit. f you have used more than one hour, you need to pay fine according to minutes.</p> <p>You can take the photo of Potala Palace freely outside but strickly prohibited inside each chapels. You can take the Photo in some chapels by paying money according to the demands written on wall. Don't take photo freely inside the chapel, otherwise you will be trouble.</p> <p>Some important chambers are always closed for the visitors as well as for the Tibetan pilgrims but opens in some important festivals like Tibetan new year, Saga Dawa and Lhaba(Buddha returning back to earth from heaven after teaching his mother).
