The main ways of cooking dishes ae to stew, braise, simmer,steam, fry and roast, while the staple food are made by steaming, boiling or frying. It features varied cooking of Yak meat, mutto, milk product, highland barley and potato. There are many different types of dishes in modern Tibet. Some of them are stewed beef with Chinese catterpillar fungus. The fried mutton ribs, roast lamb legs,air-dried yak meat, cold yak tongue, fried beef ribs, Tibetan sausage,potato curry etc.</p> <p>MOMO: Momo is also a kind of dumpling, which is mainly made from fresh chopped yak meat with gravy inside the dumpling. In ancient time, people use to eat only during the special festivals or some important dates in their life. Now a days, you can see, peoples eating Momo in every restaurant in Tibet.</p> <p>AIR-DRIED YAK MEAT: A very famous yak meat that Tibetans mostly eat during winter time. A very delicious and tasteful meat which is dark brown in color after it air dried. The Tibetans cut the Yak meat into small pieces or sometimes large piece of meat; hangs in a dark(there should not be sunlight) and cold place untill it dried up completely in the natural phenomena.</p> <p>TSAMPA(barley):Tsampa is the staple food for the Tibetans since from the time of Tibetan civilization. The Tsampa is made by grinding the fried highland barley flour, which boasts a good smell and taste. The ways of eating Tsampa is very unique from the rest of the world; it shouldnot be cooked or steam but can eat directly by mixing with black tea or some broth.</p> <p>THUKPA(noodle): Overall Tibetan noodles are usually served in a simple vegetable or meat broth. But Thenthuk is quite different from Thukpa(noodle). The procedure is quite complcated as, first the meat is fried in a vegtable oil with adding some typical Tibetan spieces in it. Almost every Tibetan people is found of eating Thenthuk than the normal Tibetan Thukpa. <br /> &nbsp;<br /> TIBETAN SAUSAGE: It is made by filling blood of the Yak with adding some amount of Tsampa(barley) or with rice according to their taste. Then it need to boil in the water or steam till it ripe. Then it is served with special hot chily with a knife.</p> <p>CHEESE:The cheese is very unique from the rest of the world. There are different kinds of cheese acoording to size, shape and flavour. Some cheese are sweet in nature and some are sour in nature. Some cheese are very hard and quite bigger in size. Some cheese are made in circle with sweet in nature. Tibetans are fond of eating Tsampa by adding butter, cheese and sugar. Legends say that, the hard brick shaped cheese was introduced in Tibet by the 42nd King Langdharma(anti-Buddhist king). In order to stop the mumbling of sutra or Mantra in Tibetan peoples' mouth, he had introduced first in Tibetan socie</p> <p>BUTTER TEA(bod cha):Its very famous drink in whole Tibetan area and Tibet's altitude is suitable for drinking Butter Tea. The procedure is quite simple as the water should be bailed and them have to add the brick tea. After than butter and little amount of milk should be stir in a churn and the product is like a milkly brown with the fats of the butter flows on the top surface when pour in a cup or bowl. Its very tasty and is famous as like coffee in the western countries.</p> <p>CHUNG(FERMENTED BARLEY):The Chung or Beer is made from Barley and is very famous in Tibetan areas like U-tsang, that is central Tibet and west Tibet. They are fond of drinking chung specially during new year, special festivals or even during wedding cermonies. The history of chung is dated back to the early Yarlung civilization is the product of fermented barley. So now a days, you can see different beer or chung in mordern style pack. The most famous Lhasa beer is very famous in Tibetan area as it is quite cheaper than other beers.</p> <p>SHAKU(beef soup):The soup is purely made from Yak meat with some amount of barley in it. In ancient time, Tibetans let it to drink for the woman who have gave birth to child for recovering her body. But now a days, you can see everywhere in the local Tibetan restaurants.
