Generally speaking,the Sichuan-Tibet line is not very good.But the Sichuan-Tibet west line in Sichuan is much better,except Chengdu to Ganzi is bituminous macadam,the rest are all the rough road.Like the Sichuan-Tibet south line,the west line have to cross the high mountains, trickle the rivulets and many of them are repired at the cliff with sporadic landslide.The more harder,the more beautiful view at the cliffs which give the lovers a great allure.
Accommodation Exponent:3 Stars
The accommodation in Sichuan is much better than Tibet,during the process in Mt. Siguniang,Xiaojin,Danba,Luhuo it is much better,but all the rest of small hotels` accommodation and sanitation is very bad.Before departure,you`d better to bring along with one sleeping bag.Emphasising that the youth hostel in these areas are much better than the ordinary hotel with low price, neatness.The livers in it are all the tourists which can make you know more information from the others.
Meals Exponent:4 Star
This is one hard route,before you go,with the well- prepared.Before the road of Danba,the meals are good,but after it,the meals are dominated with Tibetan food.During this route,there are little small restaurant,if you are unaccustomed with the Tibetan food,you'd better bring enough food and fast food.
The Best Season to Go:
Spring/Winter with more rain and snow,the road is slosh and with more landslide,so it is better not audacious to ride the car to there. Contrary,the best season to go is summer and autumn,but always remember that avoid the rainy season.
Itinerary:
Day01 Chengdu/Danba(350km)
Morning drive the car along the Chengdu-Ya'an highway to cross the Jinjia Mountain,after there,head for Danba.Along the road,visit Xiaojin paddy,pass through the Danba Bridge---which is the only door of the Xiaojin County and Danba County to get to Danba County,at the Suopo village visit splendid Tibetan blockhouse. Day02 Danba/Daofu/Luhuo(230km)
After breakfast,visit Danba Tibetan village,along the Donggu Bonsai beauty spot and Bamei grassland beauty spot to visit Tagong Temple which is the Kangba Tibetan Saga Wing's biggest temple.Along the Bamei,head for Daofu,pass through the Xianshui River where have one earthquake monument. Overnight at Luhuo
Day03 Luohuo/Ganzi/Dege(311km)
After breakfast visit Shengli White Tower,Shouling Temple,Saka Lake.Along the Ganzi Temple which is built in 1622,head west forward,pass through Renguo about 28km to a place named Rongpencha,Dajin Temple which is the Gelu Wing`s temple just at there.Along the Maligange to Maergan situated in Mt. Que`er(6184km high) and is 7-8km from MaerganAt there,not only the altitude is very high,but also the raod is very steep,incommodious and sloppy with many crooked roads.Up to the Mt.Que`er to Dege which is the cultural center of Tibetan area and is the hometown of the legened Saer King. Day04 Dege/Jiangda/Chamdo(328km)
Out of Dege,along the Gangtuo Bridge in Jinsha to the Chamdo area of Jiangda.Jiangda is the first county of the Sichuan Tibet west line enter into Tibet,which is situated in northeast of the Chamdo area,Jinsha upriver.From Jiangda,along the 4000m high mountain,through 4 mountain pass,up to Mt. Mala get to Chamdo,visit Jampaling Monastery and Karuo Ruins.Jampaling Monastery built in 1437 which is Chamdo Monasery for short and is the earliest/biggest monastery in Kang area of Gelu Wing.Karuo Ruins(3100m) situated at the west of Langcang River,far from 12km from Chamdo Area. Day05 Chamdo/Bada/Basu(265km)
From Chamdo to Bangda(4400km) is the conjunction of south line and the west line.Farewell the grassland,up the biggest natural barrier of the Hengduan Mountain---Nujiang Mountain(4893m high),along the famous 99 turn to the lakeside of Nujiang to get to Basu. Overnight at Basu
Day06 Basu/Ranwu(90km)
Along the meadow,overlook glaciers get to Ranwu Lake.At the near is the green grassland, flourish qingke and cole.At the middle of the mountain are the thick forest,but at the top of the mountain are the pure white snow.At this tonight,you have to go to Ranwu town to enjoy the Alps like snow scenery.(If the guests want to visit Lagu Glacier,the guests have to buy the exchange fee of the car by themselves) Overnight at Chamdo
Day07 Ranwu/Bomi(218km)
Get up early,enjoy the beauty of Ranwu Lake by yourselves,evening return to Bomi. Overnight at Bomi
Day08 Bomi/Niyang beauty spot/Bayi(233km)
Head for the conjunction of Niyang River and Yarlung Tsangpu River and get to Pai Town of the Yarlung Tsangpu River.We have arranged speacially the trekking to the best touring sites in Mt. Nanjiabawa---Daduka.If the weather is fine,you will have a chance to have a view of Mt. Nanjiabawa.From the Zhamu town of Bomi County,through the aboriginal forest,head for the last natural barrier Maitong.at the process from Maitong to Pailong 15km place,there is floodwater and bolar collapse which break off the use of the road,and the famous 102 coast are at there.After Pailong,the road state turns good,pass through the thick Milang which is another good place for overlooking the Nanjiabawa.Up to Mt. Selaji to get to Bayi town(2400m) which is far from 19km to visit the Cypress Forest in Bayi town. Overnight at Bayi
Day09 Bayi/Lhasa(460km)
From the Bayi town,along the way enjoy the beautiful Niyang river,after pass through the Gongbujiangda,head forward to the holy lake of Darksum-tso(3500m high,27 sq.km.).Then,drive back to the main stem of Sichuan-Tibet road,get to Lhatse.After getting Lhastse westing,you can have a distant view of Potala Palace,and the dreamlike city Lhasa is appearing in you eyes. Overnight at Lhasa
