Tour Resource

Tourism is a strong developing sector in Ngari. In 1998, a total of 13,500 domestic and overseas tourists visited Ngari, and the revenue from tourism totaled 3.38 million yuan. In recent years, it has been an established system for the inland Chinese regions to aid Tibet. In Ngari alone, the white cashmere production base, a State aid-Tibet project located in Rutog County, has been completed; the Lungjug geothermal power plant located in Gar County has gone into operation; and the water supply project at Shiquanhe Town have been finished. The completion of assistance projects from Hebei and Shaanxi provinces in the counties of Zhada, Gar and Rutog has greatly improved the communication, energy, transportation, urban construction and living standards of Ngari.
