SIGHTS

The following sights will lead you on a walk from west to east through the old town.To dive into the backstreets follow the walking tour,which is marked on the Bhaktapur map.

The Western Gates To Taumadhi Tole

The main road heading through Bhaktapur from the west forks at Siddha Polhari.The northern road leads to Durbar Sq but the main southern road is the more interesting of the two.To get onto this west-east road from Navpokhu Pokhari turn south from the corner of the Pokhari and then left on the road,passing a tickets office by the town`s Lion Gate.Unless otherwise indicated all of the following sights are on the Bhatapur map.

Taumadhi Tole

A short walk from Potters`Sq or Durbar Sq reveals the second great square of Bhatapur,the Taumadhi Tole.Here you`ll find Nyatapola Temple,the highest temple in the valley and aslo the cafe Nyatapola,where the balconies provide a great viwe over the square.The latter was renivated for its new purpose in 1977 and it has some finely carved roof struts.
