Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) launched a new promotion campaign-Visit Pokhara Year -2007, as a part of its new brand Naturally Nepal Once Is Not Enough- in the press and tour operators meet held on January 18, 2007 at Hotel Comfort Inn Marina Towers, Chennai.
The meet received overwhelming response from the press, more than 25 publications including the prestigious Hindu and Indian Express, 5 TV Channels attended the meet. Tour Operators also showed keen interest in selling Nepal bound travel packages.
The campaign is aimed to further increase the number of Indian tourists visiting Nepal. Growth of tourists to Nepal last year experienced a steep increase and it is expected that it will keep expanding. Indian tourists accounted for 33 per cent growth in 2006 and considering this growth, the Nepal Tourism Board has targeted to attract 20 per cent more tourists from India during 2007. Campaign Naturally Nepal Once Is Not Enough will focus on tourists mainly from South India. NTB Marketing and Promotion Director Ms. Nandini Lahe - Thapa said in Press Conference in Chennai, "This campaign will be a tremendous boost to the tourists, especially with the religiously inclined tourist from South India". The campaign being launched at the Travel Trade Fair here will be supported by travel agents from the region, who will customize traveling packages packing appropriate rates to suit ones interest and schedule their travel plans and stay at Nepal.
Expressing confidence in tune with the survey done by the NTB, Ms. Thapa has said "The New Nepal Brand is a reflection of the commitment to the need and demands of large sections of high and medium Indian tourists (visiting) Nepal. Prior to this campaign, being solely dependant on the individual overseas tour operators promoting country, now Nepal Tourism Board will closely work with regional travel agents in order to penetrate new segment(s) of consumer market which has a great potential and also liaise with the tourists".
Mr. Mukti Pandey, Board Member, Nepal Tourism Board was also present on the occasion and closely interacted with both Media and Travel Agents present. Meanwhile, NTB Director Marketing & Promotion Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa, along with Mr. Jitendra Bhattarai, Officer at NTB attended the TTF / OTM - Chennai, one of the most important travel trade shows in South India being on 19th to 21st January 2007.
Nepal Tourism Board was accompanied by delegation of 8 travel trade companies is promoting Nepal under the new Brand "Naturally Nepal" theme.
Director Marketing & Promotion Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa, took part in the Inauguration Session by the Honorable Tourism Minister of Tamil Nadu. It was well attended by more than 15 Media Personnel. Honorable Minster also took some time out to visit the Nepal Tourism Board Booth and interacted with Director. Who handed him a memento in shape of replica of Lord Pashupatinath Temple. The Gift was well appreciated by the Minister.
More than 10,000 visitors attended the Travel Show and Nepal Tourism Board's Booth was the most visited one. Travel Trade from Nepal received tremendous enquiries on Nepal especially on visiting Muktinath and Kailash Mansarover.
TTF / OTM is regarded as an important fair not only to attract Tamil Nadu market but also the larger South Indian market as it attracts exhibitors and trade visitors at a single venue. The Fair ended on 21st January 2007.
