The number of monks in the monastery is also the largest. Many religious figures are enshrined in the Coqen Hall, the main hall of the monastery, including the statues of Manjusri, Sakyamuni, Tsongkapa, founder of the Gelug Sect, and the 13th Dalai Lama. <br /> In order to protect cultural relics there, a renovation project took place on June 25, 2009. This project also belongs to a part of the central government's efforts to protect all the Tibetan cultural heritages.<br /> <br /> The protection work has undergone smoothly and quickly. <br /> Workers use a piece of green gauze to enwrap the Coqen Hall for fear that some stones may fall and hurt people. The cover can also protect the building.The statues inside the Hall have also been all covered by plastic cloths to keep them from dust.<br /> During the renovation, believers and tourists can still pay visit to the monastery. People can see safety warning signs everywhere. At noon, the square in front of the monastery was full of visitors all over the world. Tour guides who can speak English, French and Spanish are also available there.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The construction needs a large number of professional craftsmen. The workers are paid according to their labor intensity. Usually, a male worker is paid 50 yuan a day, and 40 for a female worker.<br /> Many workers there are at the same time the believers of Buddhism.
