I thought Tibet was just a little village, but it's a modern city!" Chairman of Austrian Journalist Club Tuen was surprised when he arrived in Lhasa. He kept shooting with his camera again and again.</P> <P><STRONG>Environment protection fruitful</STRONG></P> <P>The Austrian journalists chose Qinghai-Tibet Railway as transportation which is opened one year ago. 960 kilometers of Golmud to Lhasa segment of the railway runs at 4,000 meters above the sea level, with the highest point at 5,072 meters. It also travels 550 kilometers within no-human area. How to protect the surrounding ecological environment of the railway is the biggest issue they are interested in.</P> <P>According to the conductor, there is on site garbage collection system deployed on all the trains running on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Oxygen supply is also provided near the beds, and every carriage is&nbsp;diffused with&nbsp;oxygen. All the windows are UV resistance and there's anti-lightning strike system installed on the roof of the train.</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">They were all satisfied with the on board condition in the train.&nbsp; Peier, 1.9 meter high, is an analyst for "Messenger Paper". "Usually I will be uneasy if I travel by train, but I don't have such feeling in the train on Qinghai-Tibet Railway. It's so comfortable that I even didn't know whether it was running or not when I woke up in midnight," He smiled. </P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">"The bed is just fine, not too hard nor too soft, quite peaceful as well. It's better than the trains in Austria. I won't exchange it to flight ticket with anybody!" journalist Schwitz for "Media Network" added.</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">The efforts made by the Chinese government for environment protection can be seen in other places in Tibet as well. They were delighted to see that there are 20 "green schools" named in Tibet, from primary schools to universities. One of them even found that there were no plastic bags in Tibet's supermarkets, but recycled bags made of cotton instead. "Even all the supermarkets in Europe cannnot make it," the Austrian concluded.</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<BR><STRONG>"What a modern Tibet !"</STRONG></P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><STRONG></STRONG>&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Tibet has been described as a poor place in those old reading materials in western countries, Schwitz introduced. She has been always thinking that people there&nbsp;was isolated from the outside world due to the inconvenient traffic. However, this view was swept out when she walked in the countryside of Lhasa. </P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">"The virescence in Tibet is great! Women have so many work opportunities as well. It's totally different from what's said on books!" Austrian Television Station media journalist Bauer argued as he shot with his camera.</P> <P>Kathic often went out for a walk after supper in the evening to experience the local life there. Everything on the streets: KTV, western style food, net cafe, part-time workers from all the places, huge Transformers, Harry Potter movie posters, and etc. make him feel so fresh and free. He was warned not to see around, nor touch anything, especially to take care of what to say. And now he really had no idea what should worry about.</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><STRONG>Visiting local families</STRONG></P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><STRONG></STRONG><BR>The Austrian paid a visit to Tashi's family. All the home appliance: TV set, telephone, fridge, etc are placed in the house, tidy and clean. Besides feeding livestock, Tashi also does transportation as a second undertaking. He earns quite a lot every year.</P> <P>"We have difficulty communicating with these rural people though, we find that they are very happy and full of hopes with the life from their smiling faces. They are not that stiff as we thought they would be, but full of passion, they are very outgoing actually", Schwitz said.</P> <P>"Despite of lack in production technic in some places, these are all going to be changed as traffic is improved, "Peier believed. He felt familiar with them because they live exactly as those in Alps, which made him homesick.</P> <P><STRONG>Protetion on Tibetan Buddhism praised</STRONG></P> <P>The Austrian journalists interviewed Tashilhunpo Monastery Administration Office director, monk Phunlha.</P> <P>They kept asking questions to Phunlha who answered patiently one by one. All the monks here are free to join or quit the monastery. But those are restricted to young people aged from 15 to 19. The monastery will ask them whether it's the intention of themselves or not. And they will also come to their parents for advise. Every year, the Chinese government allocates funds to the monastery for cultural relics protection work, there is even extra fund added for special care. </P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">"The central government put so much investment on cultural relics protection every year, which really do well for Tibetan Buddism for Tibet Autonomous Region", said Schwitz when she walked out the monastery. </P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">"I promise I will tell all I've seen here to my friends and tell them throw away those old books. They are totally untrue from what I see in Tibet.
