Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon

Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon located in the north of Pai village of Miling County in Nyingtri area; it is well known as “the water that is flowing from the top of a mountain”. Located at the sharp bend of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Namjabava Peak is in a distance of 4960 m. where is the deepest valley in the world. The unique topography of the deep valley covers an area of different altitudes, which provide different faunas and floras to live properly in the survival of natural environments. Below the altitude of 1000 m. is belonged to the subtropical zone. Species of trees growing on either side of the canyon consist of complicated tropical primitive forest between the altitude of 1000-2400 m; the region has a hilly subtropical climate with high rainfall. The upper part grows a few conifers, and many of them are considered rare in our country, and some especially rare in Tibet. Between the altitude of 2400-3000 m, it has a hilly temperate climate. The coniferous broad –leafed trees here appear in different colors in different seasons, green spots in spring and summer, and red, yellow, green in autumn and winter. It is well known as “five colored forest”. June to October is the best season for tourists.
