| Palden Lhamo festival | Palden Lhamo is the protectress of Tibet, and this day can kind of be considered to be 'Women's Day'. Men give women money and gifts, and everybody visits the Jokhang Temple (some start queuing at 3 in the morning, the temple opens at 5) to offer khatas (white scarves) and money to Palden Lhamo, who is uncovered only once a year. |
