Permits and certificates needed for traveling to EBC

Along with the construction and running of tibet railway, tibet tours, especially, Everest Base Camp Tour, are becoming increasingly popular among both Chinese and foreigners from all over the world. We have already known that Tibet Entry Permit is requested from foreigners who travel to Tibet, then, what are the permits and certificates needed for traveling to EBC?

Generally, besides Tibet Entry permit, there are two more permits and certificates needed for traveling to EBC and they are Alien’s Travel Permit (also Travel Permit) and Mountaineering License. Tibet Entry Permit is needed from the very beginning of any Tibet tours, which means that you will only be allowed to enter Tibet by possessing the permit before you even get on the plane or the train to Tibet. While Alien’s Travel Permit and Mountaineering License are needed for certain regions and places in Tibet and you can apply for them after you have already been in Tibet from certain departments and organizations. The Alien's Travel Permit, also called PSB Permit, is issued by People's Security Bureau which is also available for independent travelers, and when you apply for it you are asked to show your original passports and Tibet Entry Permit (not copies).The Mountaineering License is issued by Tibet Mountaineering Association.
