Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa
When you arrive in Lhasa either by train or flight, your guide will greet you and take you to your hotel. Tourists may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River/ Bhamaputra river (the Longest and largest river in Tibet) and Lhasa river on their way to Lhasa.
After arriving in Lhasa, you can take a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude. If you feel to go out, then you can go to the Potala Square, where you will enjoy the fountain with different colors and get amazing photos of the Potala and around.
Insider Tips:
For the new-comers of Tibet, to get acclimatized to the high altitude in Tibet. Having a good sleep in your hotel is a good option. Don not rush to visit attractions inside Lhasa city.

Day 2: Lhasa tour - Potala Palace, Jokhang and Barkhor street (B, D)
Today's tour will first bring you to the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of the Dalai lama. It was put to use since the 7th Century by the 33rd great king of Tibet. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.
Then after lunch, tourists head to Jokhang temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. Inside you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside, you can see pilgrims making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple. Around the temple is Barkhor street, where you can do kora (a religious circle of a building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market.
Besides, We can taste Tibetan tea with locals in tea house; The welcome dinner will also be arranged accordingly;
Optional:
With time permitting, you may go with tour guide to visit Tibetan handicraft art or Tibetan Traditional Medicine center. You can upgrade your service to enjoy Tibetan Culture Show in the evening (fr. 60USD)

Day 3: Lhasa tour - Dadong Village and Sera Monastery (B, L)
In the morning, you are going to visit Dadong Village, the most beautiful village in Lhasa. Located 25 kilometers southwest of Lhasa downtown, Dadong Village is a well-protected ancient Tibetan village that surrounded by valleys. After arriving, you will visit the Nyimatang Monastery (built in the 11th century), take a light walk in the village, and see what rural life in Lhasa is like. You will also visit a local Tibetan family and enjoy the lunch offered by the family.
In the afternoon, you will visit Sera Monastery, which is one of the ‘great three’ Gelug monasteries of Tibet. The hot attraction is the Monks debate at around 3-5 in the afternoon. In addition, you can tour the Tibetan religious scripture printing house. Inside the monastery, you can see three sand Mandalas and the colorful Rock Painting of Buddha.

Day 4: Head to Tsedang: Yumbulhakhang Palace and Trandruk Monastery (B)
Southeast to Lhasa lies the Tsedang, the capital of Shannan Prefecture. After around 2h30min’s scenic ride, you will be arriving at in Yumbulhakhang, the first imperial palace on the rocky hill for a first Tibetan king. You may enjoy the relics that display the history and culture of Tibetan Buddhism while listening to the chanting of monks. The panorama of Yarlung Valley from the top of Yumbulhakhang will take your breath away.
Then, we head back to Trandruk Monastery, built by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. It has a history of 1,300 years. Enjoy the vivid murals and precious Thangka made of pearls that echo the heyday during the reign of Songtsen Gampo.
Insider Tips:
If you feel intimidated by the steep walk to Yumbulhakhang, the horse ride is readily available, with an extra charge by the local herdsman.

Day 5: Day Tour at Samye Monastery and Journey back to Lhasa (B)
Feast your eyes and spirits on Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet built in the 8th century. Ascend to the top of the 3-story monastery to have a clear view of this unique monastery whose layout was designed in the form of a giant mandala, a representation of the Buddhist universe.
The main temple in the center represents Mt. Meru, the mythical mountain at the center of the Buddhist universe. The four continents in the ocean around Mt. Meru are represented by the four temples at the cardinal points, each flanked by two smaller temples to symbolize islands in the ocean. You will be struck by the distinctive spiritual ambience permeating through such a holy Buddhist site. With time permitting, you may kora up to the top of Hepori hill to enjoy the stunning panorama of Samye Monastery. Finally, get transferred back to Lhasa.

Day 6: Depart from Lhasa(B)
The guide will transfer you to the airport or train station and help you on board.

Transfer Service between Hotels and Airport/ Train Station
Lhasa Gongar International Airport is about 70km from the downtown, and it takes about 1.5 hours for a car transfer between airport and hotel. Considering the distance and language barrier, Tibet Vista provides free transfer service from/to airport.
Upon your arrival at airport, our Tibetan local pick-up guide will hold a board with your name and wait for you at the exit, he will escort you to the transfer car, accompany you to the hotel, and assist you with hotel check-in. When tour ends, our guide will pick you up at hotel and escort you to the airport.

Airport Drop-off Schedules: Pick up tourists at 06:30 am; 08:00 am; 12:00 pm

Travel Tips for 6-day Lhasa Tsedang Tour
1. Why is Tsedang worth a visit?
To cultural explorers, your Tibet tour would be incomplete if you failed to visit Tsedang, widely believed to be the cradle of Tibetan civilization. You will explore the first Tibetan Buddhist Academy—Samye Monastery.
Hike to the top of Yumbulhakhang Palace, the first Tibetan royal palace, to enjoy the fertile Yarlung Valley; experience the kora of Samye on Hepori Hill and closely observe the precious pearl Thangka hand-made by Princess Wencheng.
The journey to Tsedang from Lhasa will help you delve deeper into Tibetan Buddhism and the lives of local Tibetans.
2. What about the dining and accommodation in Tsedang?
As to dining, there isn’t much difference compared to the available in Lhasa. Typical Tibetan tea houses and Sichuan dishes would be the mainstream food scene in Tsedang. Besides, dried yak meat, Tibetan chicken and yak cheese and walnut are some of the specialties of Tsedang food.
For the group tour, you will be spending the night at local 3-star hotels like Yarlung River Hotel and Tibet Yulong Holiday Hotel and Tsedang Hotel. Air-conditioner, private bathroom with hot water, Tv and phone service, restaurant and bar, etc are available.
3. Any other alternatives? If I don’t want to climb to Yumbulhakhang Palace?
Yes, there is. If you are not well acclimatized, you may hire a horse and a herdsman with the help of our guide. Then, you can enjoy the horse ride up to the entrance of Yumbulhakhang. The cost is not included.
4. Will we pass the Lake Yamdrok while in Shannan?
Well, we won’t be passing the Lake Yamdrok both to Tsedang and back to Lhasa. However, the enchanting view of Yarlung Valley and charming countryside view will keep your eyes busy and bring you loads of great photos.

I visited Kathmandu and the office also organised the Mountain Flight passed Everest which was simply awesome, then a personal tour of several of the temples in Kathmandu and then some villages outside the city. This was then followed by the 8 day Base camp tour from Lhasa, with a really friendly group of 10 travellers, a fantastic time was had by all, and capped off by the two day train journey to Shanghai. Hotels were all good and the whole trip exceeded my expectations, so I can recommend the company, the organisation and the guide! -

Butter tea with Tibetian nomads and ginger coke for Altitude sickness and glaciers. Almost 2 weeks of memorable experience! Less is more. Because I've taken medecines according to advices of the doctor I haven't any problems with the altitude. And seeng the Everest at sun set (with the help of the weather) was indeed very special.
I'll recomend this tour to everyone who don't have special problems with the health.

My experience of Tibet was incredible--- on a spiritual, personal and intellectual level. I learned so many things from my guide Tenzin Leo. Right from the beginning he made me feel very comfortable and excited to embark on the adventure. His kind and happy demeanor set the tone for the trip and quickly helped our small group of five people feel at ease. I did not know anyone in my group before heading out and I will affirm that this experience is for everyone and do not be hesitant to sign up. I highly recommend Tenzin Leo as a guide. Beware the long bus journeys and 3 day trek which was difficult in terms of altitude.

Kristen liaised with plenty of information prior to the trip and warned about the road conditions, the toilets, lack of showers in places etc. I think all of these points are really important, and I appreciated being mentally prepared for all of these, as well as bringing wet wipes, prunes, toilet paper and a neck pillow. There are long days in the bus where natural toilets are way better options than manmade ones. The tour was broken up with days traveling and monetary visits, time taken at the lake, Glacier and other various photo opportunities. Pasang gave us ample information to understand what was happening, what we were doing next and from the outset he called us friends and really meant it. He was very relaxed and approachable and managed to explain complex ideas in the monasteries etc in an easy to digest way, even for people with no prior knowledge. Pasang was awesome in that he kept tabs on everyone’s interest/energy levels and adapted his level of detail accordingly. He also provided coffee at break times on the journey which was a saviour to most on the bus each morning.
The one thing I was a little nervous about prior to this trip was altitude sickness. What I really liked about this tour is that you gradually get higher and higher in altitude so it gives you a chance to adapt. You get a few days in Lhasa to become accustomed before getting more out and about. I think actually Pasang switched up the order of a nights accommodation to make it easier for us finding it harder to adjust. One thing I recommend that saved me and my afternoon/early morning headaches (once I had had plenty of water) was coke. Normally don’t drink the stuff but it really did help with my aggressive/persistent headaches. These are available most places so that was lucky. Pasang also had plenty of oxygen canisters available but I wasn’t feeling short of breath so didn’t use them.
Highlights for this trip are definitely Everest Base Camp and Mt Kailash, plus a surprise Glacier on route. The driving days are long to get to Mt Kailash but 100% worth it. Our driver did such a great job. The roads are mostly sealed, but even so, he had to watch out/slow down for holes/uneven surfaces. Roads are being improved at the moment which meant we had to off-road for a whole section but our driver was confident throughout. Definitely bring a neck pillow, you get bounced around a fair bit which rocked quite a few people to sleep each day. You really start getting a feel for rural Tibet by taking the time to get that far west and the fact that basically everyone is hiking the Kailash Kora as part of a pilgrimage adds to the experience. We saw only one other group of non-Tibetans during the 2.5 day hike. Day one of the hike is a nice stroll, and a great way to get your body used to it all. Day two is a big day. Early start to tackle a pass which you keep thinking is almost in reach. The ground is rocky and I definitely recommend poles (which you can pick up for cheap in the town you begin the walk). The downhill part is quite steep and more loose dirt than the other side. After you have made it down that section you are welcomed to a tea house for lunch and then it is flat and chilled for the afternoon. Day three is a breeze although the body is pretty knackered by this stage. Definitely pack as light as possible! Water is available in all of the tea houses along the way so carrying a couple of small bottles at a time is fine. Food is instant noodles during the day, so you tend to get a bit done with them, but they are enough. Less -
Reviewed September,2019Aida STibet/Lhasa-Mount Everest base camp- Nepal borderFantastic 8 day trip starting Tibet-Lhasa 3 days,5 days through Tibet to Mount Everest base camp and then on to Nepal's border. The whole trip was well planned by Tibet Vista, the guide was very knowledgeable and told us everything we needed / wanted to know about historical monuments and culture. There was plenty of time at all the different sights we were at, so no stress. All the hotels were of very good standard and good breakfast. We are super happy with our trip through Tibet, we will go home so much richer on everything.
