During this tour covering Shanghai, Hangzhou, Lhasa and Everest Base Camp, you will be amazed by the blend of West and East culture in Shanghai, the beautiful Xihu Lake in Hangzhou, the devoted Tibetan Buddhist in Lhasa and the fabulous landscape of Tibet.
Tour Type: Escorted Private Tour
Upon your arrival at Shanghai Airport, your local guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your reserved hotel in Shanghai. The rest of the day is free for you. You could have a rest in your hotel or look around in the city on your own.
Overnight in Shanghai
You will have a visit to famous tourist sites in Shanghai today including, Yu Garden, The Bund, Xintiandi-former French Concession, Pearl City, Lunch, Jade Buddha Temple, People's Square, Shanghai Museum.
Overnight in Shanghai
After breakfast, you will leave Shanghai to Hangzhou by Private car. The day our in this beautiful city will include: West Lake by boat, Lingyin Temple, Feilai Peak and Dragon Well Tea Plantation. In late afternoon, return to Shanghai.
Overnight in Shanghai
Take a morning flight to Lhasa. Your local guide will meet you at Lhasa airport and escort you to your reserved hotel in Lhasa. The rest of the day is free for you to have a good rest and acclimate the altitude of Lhasa.
Overnight in Lhasa
In the morning, go to visit the famous Potala palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during Songtsen Gonpo's reign by princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkor Kora, where you can buy or appreciate traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and tradition tibetan clothes etc.
Overnight in Lhasa
Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung is famous for it was the government centre during the fifth dalai lama and later moved to the famous Potala Palace during the fifth dalai lama. After having lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is its Buddhist Scriptures debating held in the courtyard mostly around 6:00 - 7:30 in the afternoon.
Overnight in Lhasa
Passing by the green farmland of Nyangchu Valley, Yamdrok lake, Karo-la Glacier roadside at 4960m, we move westwards to the second biggest city of Tibet, Shigatse, the area spiritually hosted by Pamchan Lama. The most important attraction for today is Yamdrok Lake, and Kubum monastery in Gyantse. Yamdrok Lake is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in colour and Kubum monastery has a 35m-high chorten (stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like golden dome.
Overnight in Gyantse
Drive from Gyantse to Shigatse in the morning. In Shigatse, you will visit the famous Tashi Lhunpo monastery where you can see the well preserved largest statue of Jampa (future god) in the world. The monastery itself is abiding place for the successive Penchen Lamas. Then drive to the Sakya county where you can visit the famous Sakya monastery. The most interesting thing in Sakya sect is that the sect do not believe in reincarnation and the head of Sakya sect will wear white cassock and also marry and have children.Then take a good rest in Sakya.
Overnight in Sakya County
There is about 5-6 hours driving from Sakya to Rongpuk. The road is under construction. From Tingri to E.B.C with the very rough road, pass the wild grassland, cross the rapids river and high mountains. If it is in clear whether, you can have a glimpse of 4 mountains which are 8000m high or more, that is, Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Qowowuyag (8201m) and Mt Mayalu (8463m).
Overnight in Ronguk Guest House or Tent
Early in the moring to see the sunrise from Rongphu, then to view Mt. Everest. The scenery is fabulous and splendid. After walking, arrive the place to get on the local bus then use half of an hour to arrive at Everest Base camp (Or you also can trekking to Base Camp around 1.5-2 hours one way. It's more interesting and much warmer, but hard to breath). Hike up to the top of the photo point to take pictures of the splendid Mt. Everest. Then in the afternoon go down from EBC and back to Shigatse.
Overnight in Shigatse
Drive along the Sino-Nepal Friendship Highway and Yarlung Zangpo River to Qushui, and then to Lhasa Gonggar Airport. The road is in good condition, therefore it only takes about 4 hours to drive from Shigatse to the airport. You can fly to Beijing or Shanghai for your flight home.
