Built in 1416, Drepung Monastery is the largest monastery in Tibet. It covers an area of 250,000 sq. km and around 10,000 monks used to live there. Like Tashilhunpo monastery in Shigatse and Ganden Monastery in Lhasa, Drepung Monastery also has a tremendous Buddha unfolding platform where gigantic Thangka Buddha will be shown during big traditional festivals.

Turquoise Yamdrok Lake is one of top three sacred lakes in Shannan Prefecture, while other two well-known heavenly lakes are Namtso Lake, located on the border between Damxung County, Lhasa and Baingoin County, Nagqu Prefecture and Manasarovar Lake in Ngari Prefecture. Besides, it is the closest sacred lake that one can enjoy from Lhasa City. It only takes around 3 hours’ drive.
