Zhangmu Border in Tibet
People who have Tibet travel from Lhasa to Kathmandu or go to Nepal after China and Tibet travel must know the border called Dram.
Dram or Zhangmu Border, located in south valley of Himalaya mountain which is the border between China and Nepal, is a hillside town with elevation of 2300m.
The modern buildings and old wooden houses scattered along the winding road. The local buildings mainly built for two or three floors by stones, wood and brick. Streets are linked by stone stairs layer upon layer. Most house have gardens on their iron roofs decorated by colorful preyer flags and lucky trees.
Dram is an important border for trade among people from Nepal, India and China. It's a lively trade city full of busy transportation everyday.
Shops are crowded sitting on the roadside. You will see the unique TATA from Nepal that carrying the goods busily. You will see different peoples go any where for commercial communication.
Walking down the street is the China custom leading to Nepal. Thousands meters away lies the Friendship Bridge. Near the border you may find lots of people hold money and calculators to exchange.
The attention for travelers is that there is no bus from Dram to Tibet cities. You can rent a private car or meet hitch a ride. Hotels in Dram is a little expensive so it's better to live in Nyalam and it's easier to find a car available.
