A Tibetan Village of Nepalese Immigrants' Descendants

Located in Gyirong Town, a border town in southwest Tibet's Shigatse Prefecture, the Darman Village consists of near 200 descendants of Nepalese immigrants.

As their forefathers moved from Nepal to the village and surrounding areas, these Darman people have been living here for several generations. For a long time the descendants didn't have Chinese nationality, until ten years ago. On May 26, 2003, the Darman people officially became naturalized Chinese and in 2005 they moved into the Darman Village which was invested 1.47 million yuan (237 thousands US dollars) and owned a total area of housing of 3,664 square meters.
