Environment along Qinghai-Tibet Railway well protected: passenger
The woman surnamed Jiang whose hometown is Hainan Tibetan Prefecture of Qinghai province told us that she always saw herds of antelopes alongside the railway every summer when she visited her parents.
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway passes through three national nature reserves including Hoh Xil, a major habitat for the critically-endangered Tibetan antelope.
To protect the environment, the railway authorities have also worked to preserve and expand vegetation along the route.
In 2008, the railway was named as an "environment-friendly project," China's top environment award.
