Temple On the River: A Fading Holy Land

Hermes in China will expose insights into pilgrims in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region on May 8 through an exhibition after an eighteen-month research, according to Xinhua.

The exhibition, titled A Parcel from Nature and held by Shang Xia, a luxury brand established by Hermes, will present insights into the pilgrims' history and lives, and how their proximity to nature influence the way they relate to the environment.

Apart from pilgrims from Namtso in Tibet, findings about tea pickers in Mangjing of southwestern Yunnan province and the reindeer people at the Greater Khingan Range in northeastern Heilongjiang province will also be presented. All of the three groups are living in the most remote areas of China and almost unknown to most of China .

The exhibits include rare stones from Lake Namtso, canola pollen from the Ili Valley in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and images of man working and living at the extremes of the natural world.

"The aim of the collection is to see nature through the eyes of such people, and to discover how their lives are consistently intertwined with their environment," says Jiang Qionger, CEO of Shang Xia. "The exhibition aims to hear the voice of nature and understand the close relationships that man and nature hold." Thus attract more people travel to Tibet but cann't to experience it.

Hermes is a French high fashion house established in 1837, today specializing in leather, lifestyle accessories, perfumery, luxury goods, and ready-to-wear. Its logo, since the 1950s, is of a Duc carriage with horse.
