Taking a train to Lhasa from Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Xining is the most popular way to get to Tibet for travelers can enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the world's highest railway - Qinghai-Tibet Railway, while entering Tibet by air, tourists will be able to have a glance of the snowy mountain ranges of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau on the plane as long as the weather is sunny enough.

The suggestion that first-time visitors should go to by train to gradually adjust to the high altitude in order to avoid from the highland sickness is actually not correct for the train is pressurized, with oxygen pumped in; therefore the train is like that travelling at low altitudes, and you will also feel the affect of altitude when you arrive in Lhasa.
