The Ancient Tea-Horse Road & News Release on the Most Beautiful Tourist Route 2016 was co-hosted by China National Tourism Administration and Tibet Autonomous Region People's Government in Lhasa Shangri-la Hotel. This news conference aimed to dig deeper into ancient tea-horse road and further promote Tibetan tourism.

Leaders of China National Tourism Administration and Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Committee have participated in this big event together with traveling salesmen from the United States, South Korea, Japan, India, Nepal and other countries, as well as representatives of large state-owned enterprises and travel agencies.

Tea-Horse Road: China's Ancient Trade Road to Tibet

Tea-horse road, linking Sichuan, Yunnan to Tibet, is a classic scenic route with many unknown beautiful landscapes and unique cultural resources. Legends left by ports and caravans make this ancient trade road more mysterious.

In order to advocate Tea-horse Caravan Road better, the eight-minute-long propaganda film of ancient tea-horse road & secret Tibetan path was also broadcast on the conference. As we have learned, the whole documentary was expected to be played on CCTV channel in this December.

To cope with the standardized construction of Tibet tour in seven cities and prefectures, Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Committee has put forward five classic tourist routes, including eastern loop, southern loop, western loop, northern loop and self-driving line.

Eastern Tibet Travel :You start from Lhasa to visit Ganden Monastery via Dazi County, and then head towards Jiama Scenic Area to explore the relics of Tubo Kingdom. After catching a glimpse of Brahmaputra Grand Canyon, Mount Namjagbarwa and Nanyi Valley, you’ll go back to Lhasa.

Western Tibet Travel: Starting from Lhasa, you'll pass over mount Gangbala as well as Yamdrok Lake, and then pay a visit to Gyangtse Dzong, Palcho Monastery and Pala Manor. Once arriving at Shigatse, you can tour Tashilhunpo Monastery, Mt.Everest, Rongbuk Monastery, Sayka Temple and finally come back to Lhasa.

Southern Tibet Travel : Starting from Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake, you'll pass through numerous mountains and lakes before reaching Sangding Monastery and Pumo Yum Tso Lake. After that, you'll tour the tombs of Tibetan Kings and watch Tibetan opera performance and then return to Lhasa.

After touring Reting Monastery, you'll climb over Nagenla Pass at the altitude of 5,190 meters and appreciate the stunning Namtso Lake, the third largest salt-water lake in China. Traveling around Tsurphu Monastery, you'll get back to Lhasa.
