Tibet Receives 230,000 Tourists in Three Months

Tibet received 23,000 domestic and international tourists in the first three month of this year, with tourism revenue of 22.91 million and a year on growth of 23.7%, according to Tibetan Tourism Bureau.

Tourism phenomena like themed tour, self -driving tour, one-day tour and winter tour make significant achievements.

Tibetan tourism in 2012 is themed "Happy Tour in Tibet", which is in accordance with the national tourism bureau’s "China 2012 Happy and Healthy Tour". Tourists could feel the dynamic ethnical feature, profound human and historical courses and breathtaking natural sceneries which would present a harmonious Tibet.

Self-driving tour is the choice of many motorists as Tibet’s transportation is being improved. From this February, a rising number of motorists drive to Tibet through the Sichuan-Tibet, Yunnan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet highways. Statistics indicated that there are approximately 18.6 thousand motorists to Tibet, which is 27.8% more than last year.

Winter tourism proves to be fruitful. Good marketing strategies come out with tourism products such as the Losar,mentioned in Nyingchi travel guide of Peach Blossom Festival. From October 2011 to March 2012, Tibet greeted 1.7904 million tourists, 47.8% more than last year.

As the peak tourism season is approaching, tourism departments will take great efforts on tourism promotion and marketing, attaching great importance to the tourism management and service for the better and healthier development of tourism.
