To Foreign Tourists,the Door to Self-driving is about to Open

Chinese military outlines military restricted zones to regulate self-driving foreigners traveling to China.

Recently, ministry of public security, together with ministry of foreign affairs, general administration of customs, China national tourism administration released the notification about further regulation of self-driving foreigners traveling to China. The notification contains 11 specific requirements, which claims that public security organs, tourism bureaus, customs agencies and other departments should fulfill their own duty and do well in relevant military control and security prevention together. In general, it will be much easier for foreigners traveling to China with their own cars.

Self-driving foreigners in Tibet

The notification will come into effect in October 1, 2015, while the previous notification , issued in September 16, 1986 will be abolished.

To travel agencies:

Only travel agencies who have already obtained business license can receive self-driving foreigners. On the one hand, travel agency needs to hold copies of the business certificate, business license, related information of self-driving foreigners, vehicles, reception plans, safety commitment and other materials to transact relevant procedures.

Most importantly, travel agencies are required to submit corresponding reception plans to exit and entry administration bureau of the people's governments at the provincial level in local 2 months before tourist group entering China. The exit and entry administration department will check whether the travel route passes through restricted areas to foreigners and inform travel agency within 3 working days. In other words, there will be no need to apply for approval procedures if the travel route does not pass through restricted areas to foreigners, otherwise the previous procedures will be needed.
