Tips for summer trip in Tibet

Tibet is a top summer travel destination in Asia and a land of breathtaking scenic views and rich cultural history. Before planning specifics, you should contact a local travel agency and ask about any necessary permits. Once your paperwork is in order, you can focus on the sort of trip you'd like to have.

If you're planning to travel in the near future, you would better do it during the months of June, September or October (July and August is the rainy season).

Lhasa is easily accessible by air to the Lhasa Gonggar Airport, and transportation to surrounding cities is available by bus or train.

While there, heading over to the Potala Palace, the architectural icon of Lhasa, and the three biggest monasteries of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism namely the Jokhang Temple, the Garden Monastery and the Sera Monastery.

Hotels are abundant in Lhasa, so you should have no trouble establishing a home base while there.
