Everest base camp
Everest base camp

The base camp of Mt. Qomolangma was accessible to the stabilized electricity on April 14,chinanews reported.

It is a key component of the power project for elecrtoless areas in the Dingri County,Shigatse Prefecture of Tibet, lasting over two years.

It took the workers nine months to build the power transmission line of up to 85 kilometers, who have worked in the areas of over five thousands altitude above the sea level, conquering serious oxygen deficiency.

The completion of the project will provide persistent power to the visitors and climbers in the base camp of Mt. Qomolangma.

It also benefits the monks in the Rongpo Monastery under the feet of the Mt.Qomolangma, built over 100 years ago,who used to light candles and butter lamps at night due to the power instability.

Moreover, the project will support 21 villages with over one thousand households throughout the transmission lines.

The Tibet branch of Grid Corporation of China has planned to provide electricity power for 18 counties, covering 387.3 thousand local residents in Tibet, through the extension of the bulk power systems with an investment of about 5.4 billion yuan from 2013,which will put an end in 2015.
