Free heart disease treatment to Tibetan kids
Tibet Autonomous Region is an important part of China. People who have Tibet travel can understand the attention that Chinese government has payed on it. From time to time inland medical teams will launch medical programs such as the congenital heart disease program for children in the cooperation with local hospitals in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
Thirty-three Tibetan children with congenital heart disease arrived in Beijing on Thursday to receive free medical treatment thanks to a private foundation.
The children, who were accompanied by their parents, are from Nagqu prefecture in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region. They will receive treatment at Navy General Hospital in Beijing, according to the foundation.
"My daughter was diagnosed with congenital heart disease two years ago, but we couldn't afford the cost of surgery," said Drasang, a mother from a village in Nagqu. The cost ranges from 15,000 yuan ($2,362) to 50,000 yuan.
The Liu Biao Charity Foundation is dedicated to helping children and the elderly. Its founder, Liu Biao, is a coal entrepreneur in Northwest China.
