Siling Co in Tibet

People who have Tibet travel are interested in the beautiful snowy mountains and pure lakes there. Lake Siling Co is the second largest lake in Tibet. There are mountains in the lake.

It is a tectonic Lake on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In Tibetan words the name of Lake Siling Co means "the demon lake shined by divine light". The lake is about 72 kilometers long from east to west and 22.8 kilometers wide from north to south. Lake Siling Co has an area of 1640 square kilometers with an elevation of 4530 meters.

According to the scientists research, Lake Siling Co had an area of more than ten thousand square meters. Because of the change of climate later, the lake became smaller and separated many small lakes around the mountains. Near the lake, the grassland is fresh and green which is a chief base of stockbreeding in northern Tibet. It's also a wetland and natural protecting area for black-necked cranes.

Legend says that many years ago, there is a devil beaten by the King Gesar. Before the devil die, he begged for drinking enough water before he die. King Gesar cut the devil's head and threw it in Lake Siling Co so that he can drank as much as he like. From then on, that's why there are several rivers run into Lake Siling Co but the water in lake is never full.

There are totally about 23 small lakes next to Lake Siling Co which looks like a emerald Necklace surrounding the lake. In each spring and summer, there are innumerable birds flying here which scenery is spectacularity and heart shocking. It's the kingdom of birds.
