＂Impression on Tibet＂ will begin selection process

People around the world are always interested in Tibet travel. They take it as a mystery land different from other places.

Talents with Tibet-themed photographic works are welcomed to contribute photos and compete in the First "Impression on Tibet" Photography Contest before the deadline of Sep.12, according to information from the organizing committee of the event.

After about 15 more days of work solicitation, the contest will begin its selection process from Sep. 14 to Sep. 18.

Themed on the "natural environment, social life, culture and historical change" of Tibet, the contest is calling for photos that display the marvelous landscape, local custom, social and economic development of modern Tibet since the peaceful liberation in 1951 with high artistic level, according to the organizer.

So far, over 4,000 pieces of works have been collected, but the organizing committee hopes to see more works, especially those by Tibetan talents in the remaining 15 days.

After selection, altogether 202 photos in five categories will be awarded, including four first prizes, eight silver prizes, and 12 bronze prizes, 28 honorary prizes and 150 good works, with bonus of 15,000 yuan, 5000 yuan, 1000 yuan, 500 yuan and 200 yuan respectively.

The selected photos will be exhibited at China's National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing in October, with some of them to be displayed in a successive tour exhibition overseas.

Launched on July 17, the contest is co-organized by China Tibet Online and China Photographers Association, coordinated by Tibet Photographers Association, and supported by the Federation of Literary and Art Circles of Tibet Autonomous Region.

After the success of First "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Contest and the exhibition series in Beijing, Shanghai and Germany, China Tibet Online as one of the organizer initiated this photographic works contest as another move to show people's life, economic development, environmental protection, and cultural preservation in Tibet today to the world.

"It is wise to do Tibet-introducing work via art forms, and it is more convincing to do this work through photos", said Wang Yao, one of the judges of the contest and vice chairman of China Photographers Association, explaining that photographic creation is less influenced by the subjective factors of authors, who just depict what they see and what exist there.

According to her, such activities with persuasive evidence are more practical and acceptable for foreigners with false image of Tibet and more people will have interesting to have Tibet travel.
