Chinese, German Tibetologists discussed views on culture
Tibet Autonomous Region in west China is a fantastic place that has attracted thousands of people joining Tibet travel each year. In resent time the Chinese, German Tibetologists exchange views on culture about Tibet. "I am glad to meet professor Dorje from the University of Hamburg again, and I hope the Tibet University and the University of Hamburg would enhance cooperation in fields of common interest." said Changngopa Tseyang, vice-chancellor of Tibet University on August 2.
A seminar was held by the culture and history of India and Tibet department of the University of Hamburg. Tibetologists from China and Germany gathered together and exchanged with each other.
When talked about the development and inheritance of Tibetan culture, professor Tseyang said in Tibet University, young people from over 20 countries are studying Tibetan language, culture and opera and Thangka. Some students from German can't write Tibetan when they first went to Tibet, but after two years, they could speak, write characters and even essays.
Harunaga Isaacson, dean of the culture and history of India and Tibet department said, "We hope not only students could study there but also exchanges and cooperation could be enhanced and more research projects could be launched."
Professor Tseyang agreed with him and she added, though Tibet University has advantages in ethnology, Tibetan music, art and dance aspects, culture needs more communication. She herself has been to United Kingdom, France, United States, Austria, Norway and other countries for communication, and the Tibet University has also established cooperative relations with the leading universities in the United States, Britain, Norway and Germany.
With over 39,000 students, the University of Hamburg is one of Germany's largest institutions, and its Tibetology study is also quite striking. Professor Dorje said, its culture and history of India and Tibet department has advantage in study and research on philosophy and linguistics of written document.
When talked about the protection of ancient document, Tsering Gyalpo, head of the Institute of Religious Studies with Tibet Academy of Social Sciences, said the Institute not only to study minorities and their languages, but also published a number of books on Tibetan Buddhism. Tibet Academy of Social Sciences also set up the Pattra research center, which has made progress in the excavation and rescue of the Pattra classics.
