Nutrition improved program for students in Tibet
People have Tibet travel always keep an eye on the daily life of Local Tibetans. A nutrition improvement program has been carried out since the spring semester to improve the health condition of Tibetan students in compulsory education period in farming and pastoral areas of China's southwest Tibet Autonomous Region.
This program will benefit more than 240, 000 students in compulsory educational schools from 74 counties in farming and pastoral areas. Each student can receive 3 yuan subsidy a day and altogether 600 yuan will be allocated to each student in a year.
At present, students of Hor Central Primary School in Ngari Prefecture could have fruits, milk or snacks after every meal since the school implemented the nutrition improvement program in this spring semester.
"Our school also provides some traditional Tibetan food such as the butter tea and tsampa for students," said Tashi Norbu, a teacher of Hor Central Primary School. "Thanks to the nutrition improved program, our students eat better and better."
Each region and school will adjust measures to local conditions and put emphasis on scientific collocation of food, such as meet, eggs, milk and vegetables, etc. The standard of meals will be reasonably formulated so as to improve students' nutrition structure.
