Tibet promotes winter tourism by great discounts

Due to the misleading information that Tibet is too cold to visit and immature tourist infrastructure in the past, Tibet receives much fewer tourists from both home & abroad in winter than in summer. With the completion of Tibet’s tourism infrastructure, it is also very great to visit Tibet in winter. In order to attract more tourists, Tibet promotes winter tourism by great discounts on hotels, scenic spots, airlines, travel service, etc. Tibet's winter tourism season starts from the beginning of November to the end of April. During this season, tourists can enjoy at least 50% discounts at hotels and scenic spots in Tibet.

Recently, a series of travel agencies and star-standard hotels, as well as the Tibet Airlines participated in the China International Travel Fair 2012 under the guide of the deputy director of Tibet Tourism Bureau. The introduction & promotion theme of Tibet Autonomous Region is "explore Tibet and experience happiness" on this travel mart. To present the exhibiting companies with the fascinating natural sceneries and splendid cultural landscapes, Tibet Tourism Bureau prepared a series of promotional materials (such as Tibet tourism promotional material) in advance.

Thus, tourists make a Tibet tour in winter will have the chance to enjoy the breathtaking natural landscapes with a relatively lower cost compared to the other seasons. There was only a few tourists would like to make a Tibet tour in winter in the earlier years. But the number of tourists planning a Tibet tour in winter greatly increased due to a series of introduction & promotion activities were held in different cities recent years.

Tourist will have the chance to know more about Tibet in winter. Taking Namtso Lake as an example, it would be closed between November and March for the heavy snow in the past years. Methods will be adopted to allow tourists to enjoy the breathtaking landscape of the holy lake in winter this year.
