Kwonti and Gesar Lhakhang in Lhasa
A ceremony marking completion of the renovation was held for the 200-year-old Kwonti and Gesar Lhakhang in Lhasa on Sept. 17 through two maintenance projects.
The Tibetan word Lhakhang means temple in English. The Kwonti Lhakhang worships the general Kwonti in the Shu-Han Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280) and King Gesar known as the most famous hero in ancient Tibetan literature.

The temple has witnessed the unity of Tibetan and Han ethnic groups in resisting invasion from imperialists and safeguarding the national territory of China.
The temple was inscribed into the regional cultural protection unit of Tibet in May, 2007 and got facelift twice with an overall investment of over 9 million yuan.

The day also marked the first ethnic unity and progress festival of Lhasa. If you travel to Lhasa, you can drop a visit to this temple.
