Mt. Everest will see lots of climbers

Since the best season to climb Mount Everest or Qomolangma has began, mountain climbers are preparing to conquer the world’s highest peak and the Mt. Everest will see lots of climbers in the next May and June.

According to the Mountain-climbing Management Center of the Sport Administration of Tibet Autonomous Region, 300 mountain-climbing amateurs have arrived at Tibet in a bid to conquer various mountain peaks in Tibet，including Mt. Everest, also known as Qomolangma in Tibetan.

Zhang Xingming, director of the Mountain Climbing Management Center said that mountain-climbing this year lasts from early April to early June. By April 17, altogether 327 mountaineers from nearly 20 countries and regions including Russia, the US, Britain, Swiss and Italy have already come to Tibet, half of whom will challenge the Qomolangma peak, known as the "world rooftop". The rest will march toward other mountain peaks of the Himalaya Mountains such as the Qowowuyag peak, the Xixabangba Peak and the east peak.

Meanwhile, another mountain-climbing group consists of 21 experienced mountaineers from within China has also arrived in Tibet with the aim for the "world rooftop".

Zhang added that in order to guarantee the safety of mountaineers, China has dispatched 50 staff members to the mountainous areas to provide service needed while monitoring safety regulations and the environment. In a few days, leaders of the Mountain-climbing Management Center will also go to the mountains to inspect service provided and safety measures.

The mountain-climbing activity, in the Himalaya Mountains, in particular, is operated seasonally due to weather conditions. Mountaineers are apt to suffer from injuries in cold and terrible climate in winter; whereas in summer when ice thwarts with the rise in temperature and there is plenty of precipitation, the visibility is limited and the avalanche is likely to occur. So mountain-climbing is usually held in spring or autumn，Zhang added.

For travelers, April to early June is also the best time to make a tour to Mt. Everest to enjoy the great visibility of the whole peak.
