101 items to be added on Tibet’s intangible cultural heritage list

According to the 4th Tibet’s intangible cultural heritage list published recently, 101 items is going to be added on Tibet’s intangible cultural heritage list, including Nierong Zama fairy tales, Sama toasting songs of Menba, Cham at Sakya Monastery, Duixiu Thangka in Lhasa, Tibetan calligraphy of Nechi School, You•Minba ancient Tibetan incense manufacturing skill and so on. This means that Tibetan culture will be well protected and inherited.

Thangka

At present, Tibet has formed a state, autonomous region, municipality and county four-class list system for intangible cultural heritages. Seventy-six items, such as Tibetan medicine, Tibetan paper, thangka painting, and Langma dance and music, have been included in the intangible cultural heritage list.

A total of more than 400 people, including experts and scholars from home and abroad, young overseas Chinese leaders, business celebrities as well as teachers and students from the University of Tibet, have attended the third China Tibetan Cultural Forum held by the Chinese Tibetan Culture Protection and Development Association under the theme "The Inheritance and Development of Tibetan Intangible Cultural Heritage."

Tibetan dance

Tibet attracts tourists not merely for its breathtaking landscape, but mainly for its rich and time-honored culture and customs. When you travel to Tibet, you will be amazed at the devout Tibetan Buddhists prostrating to a sacred site body-length by body-length,

colorful prayer flags dancing in the wind everywhere in Tibet, or a huge piece of Thangka carried by hundreds of monks, or beautiful butter sculpture made by monks in a circumstance under minus 15 degrees centigrade.

If you wanna experience the Tibetan culture at most, it is best to travel to Tibet during traditional Tibetan festivals, such as Tibetan New Year, Saga Dawa Festival and Shoton Festival
