Ruins Of Gurge Kingdom
History told the reason leading to the collapse of the Tubo Dynasty is Darma, who wanted to eradicate the Buddhism in the middle of the 9th century. Some royal descendants in order to escape from Darma, fled to the Ngari Prefecture, where their offspring established 3 kingdoms respectively. Gurge Kingdom was one of them built by Dezu Dagon in the 10th century.
Yet, this flourishing kingdom collapsed suddenly over 3 hundred years ago. Even the history experts could not explain that the Gurge which shouldn’t be compeletely destroyed by war or sickness just disappeared all of a sudden.
The huge ruins of Gurge Kingdom consists of palaces, temples, watchtowers, pagodas and caverns. The roof of the Gurge Kingdom ruins once leaked because of years of washing by rains and storms. This happened to result in the erosion of some exquisite frescoes and collapse of some caves.
