Tibetans prepare to embrace New Year
With the advent of New Year, Tibetans began to do New Year's shopping in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
They mainly bought clothes and food in supermarkets, farmers' markets and stores by the road.
The Chongsaikang market is the largest wholesale market of small articles in Lhasa. It sells tens of thousands of goods, mainly food, general merchandises and clothes.
Chongtak, a shopper from southwest China's Shigatse, purchased clothes on the third floor of the market. He opened a clothes store in Shigatse City.
"Clothes sell well every year end," said Chongtak. "I purchase a lot of clothes from the market at this time of year."
On the first floor, a shop owner named Lhamo was so busy that he could only have lunch around 4:00 PM. His store mainly traded in candies, tea, dried fruit and other subsidiary foodstuffs.
"It's not yet the busiest time. It will reach the peak around the Tibetan New Year," said Lhamo.
