Tibetan cultural relics exhibition to bet held in Changsha
Over 130 Tibetan cultural relics will be displayed for a three-month exhibition since Dec. 28 at Hunan Museum in Changsha, capital of south China's Hunan Province.
Titled "Mysterious Tibet in Buddhist light", the exhibited cultural relics are Buddhist statues, Thangka and antiques from about ten famous monasteries and museums in Tibet, including Norbulingka, Potala Palace and Tibet Museum.
Among these cultural relics, more than 40 are first-grade cultural relics. The most impressive and valuable cultural relic in the exhibition is the Thousand-hand Bodhisattva with 11 faces, which boasts a history of hundreds of years yet still kept in good condition.
According to the researcher of the museum, in fact, the Bodhisattva has altogether 998 hands. It tactfully becomes a thousand-hand Bodhisattva adding the two hands of a worshipper.
As known, the exhibition will be divided into three exhibition halls, fully revealing the livelihood, culture, art and religious belief of Tibetans in the past thousands of years.
The exhibition is co-organized by Tibet Cultural Relic Bureau and Cultural Palace of Nationalities as a special exhibition for the new year.
