Nagchu horse race festival is coming on August 10th of 2011

The annual Nagchu horse race festival will be held from Aug. 10th to Aug. 16th, 2011 at Nagchu town in northern Tibet. This festival is the most exciting festival in this season. It attracts thousands of nomads, monks and pilgrims gathering to show off their skills and to bargain and trade tools and supplies.

With few hotels in town, Tibetan people bring their own tents and a colorful tent city is established surrounding the world's highest racecourse, at 14,850 feet. They create a beautiful sight on the Tibet plateau. Actually, the Tibetans themselves singing and dancing in colorful costumes, is another a sight to behold.

In a word, the Nagchu horse race festival is a week of horse races, archery, horsemanship, and revelry.
