Tibetan People are Enjoying Lingka Festival
Lingka Means garden in Tibetan or leisure time in woods. Lingka Festival in Tibet usually lasts from June to September. Lingka Festival goes into climax at Shoton Festival which begins on August 29, 2011 and lasts to September 6. During Lingka Festival, Tibetan people camp out and have picnics in parks or suburbs. They always set up blankets and bring food with them at a nearby meadow to spend the lingka with their family members and friends. In sunny days, Tibetan-style tents and blankets can be seen everywhere there is a green grass.
In Lhasa, people mainly spend Lingka Festival at Norbulingka and other parks, in woods nearby Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, and Lhasa River. While people in Shigatse and Tsedang enjoy this great time outside the Summer Palace of Panchen Lamas, in the garden inside Ganggyan Orchard Hotel, beside the Yarlung Zangpo, at the foot of Sacred Gongpo Ri Mountain and so on.
