Located in the eastern Tibet, Nyingchi Prefecture is well-known for the world’s deepest valley-Brahmaputra River Grand Canyon. With an average altitude of 3,000 meters, it has been the lowest part in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, enjoying great reputations of “Tibetan Jiangnan” and “the Switzerland of Tibet”.
In spring, blooming peaches spread over the whole Nyingchi region. While fall comes, everything starts to dress in autumn color. Lulang Forest
LuLang means Long King Valley” in Tibetan language, or“a place that will make you forget your home”. It is located by the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, about 80 km from Nyingchi County. With an elevation of 3700 meters, Lulang Forest is a typical plateau-mountain-meadow, 15 km long and 1 km wide. The bushes, spruce, fir, and pine trees grow on both sides of mountains. The middle is a large piece of meadow.
Known as a fairyland where gods live in with scenic beauties, it has special breathtaking scenery in every season. In winter, snow falls on the forest as well as the glaciers. You will get lost in the fairy tale. In spring, it is of full-brown azaleas all over the forest, which attracts swarms of birds. In summer, you can see golden wheat waves with cool breezes in Lulang Forest. In autumn, the leaves all turn yellow and then red except the evergreen pines. Under the brilliant sunshine, Lulang in fall is as colorful as a canvas. Blue sky, white clouds, snow mountains, yellow-green pastures make you lose yourself in this fabulous world.
Niyang River
Niyang River is a major river in southwest Tibet and the longest tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo Valley. It stretches 307.5 kilometers from the west of Mira Mountain, with an elevation of 5,000 meters above sea level. The river flows eastwards and joins Yalung Tsangpo in Cemeng, Nyingchi. Upper reach of Niyang River is a large and flat meadow, while the lower reach is of dense forests standing by both banks.
Niyang River, means“the sad tears of a fairy” in Tibetan language, is one of the most beautiful river in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Thanks to the well-preserved vegetation in the river reaches, the water is crystal clean. The jade-green will let you have the illusion that you are in a paradise.
When the river and sky come to mingle with each other, multicolored trees, flourishing bushes, yellow grasslands, golden farmlands, naughty waterbirds together with flocks of horses and sheep show you an intoxicating scenery.
Basum Tso
Basum Tso is also called as the Conggo Lake, which means green water in Tibetan language. As a famous sacred lake of the Nyingma Sect, local people would hold a festival to circulate Draksum-tso on every 15th day of the 4th month in Tibetan calender.
As autumn comes, Basum Tso become a colorful gem. Mountains turn to be a magic palette with reds, greens and golden-yellows on. It’s a great chance for photographers to shoot awesome pictures.
Brahmaputra River Grand Canyon (Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon)
Originating from Jiema Yangzong Glaciers at the northern foot of the Himalayas, the Yarlung Tsangpo River is not only the highest river in China but also one of the world’s highest rivers. Together with Namjaparwa Peak, the Brahmaputra River has become the signboard for Nyingchi beauty.
