At one dawn in May, when the mountains in distance were covered with light blue mist and Potala Palace wore a dark veil, the morning sun spread its golden light on the age old golden roof of the palace. The whole atmosphere was particularly tranquil and serene, like that of the heaven.
In this quiet morning, we set out to find the riverhead of Lhasa River. They traveled across Mira Mountain pass, reached Nyingchi, thenheaded west to Shannan to see Tubo Dynasty historical sites and finally returned to Lhasa. It took them 17 days to complete this journey.
This eastern loop route is like a time tunnel of Tibetan history and culture, featuring religious center, the cradle land of Bon religion, multiracial Nyingchi, Shannan which is the cradle head of the Tibetan people, the earliest monastery the Samye, and the oldest palace the Yumbulakang.
